Elies Lahmar is Senior Market Designer at the European Power Exchange EPEX SPOT. Passionate about the energy transition and current challenges of the power sector, Elies holds a degree in mechanical engineering from MINES Paristech, where he also studied energy economics and power markets.
As part of his curriculum, Elies worked at ArcelorMittal as an energy analyst, more specifically on the sourcing optimization of the steelmaker’s European power and gas consumption portfolios. Furthermore he worked at Danske Commodities, active on short-term European power and gas markets, where as a quantitative analyst, he designed and implemented automated trading strategies.
Elies joined the Product Development team of EPEX SPOT in 2017 as a Market Design analyst. He is in charge of business development, exploring and assessing innovative ideas, products and concepts that will shape tomorrow’s power markets. Elies particularly focuses on the development of the local flexibility market initiatives in which EPEX SPOT is involved. In this regard, he was part of the design and implementation of the enera local flexibility market since 2017.
